About Sophia
Art has played a very significant role in my life. Even when I was younger I was always the girl that was drawing all over her notes. Since then I have worked to become a better artist by first seeing what other people have drawn, asking for advice from my other friends, and even looking up tutorials. However, a negative result from looking at all of this other art is that I started being a perfectionist about mine and had the mindset that if my works did not look like theirs then it was not good art. It wasn’t until around high school that I finally found my own voice in my art. I had finally developed enough skills to be able to put my creativity on paper. I stopped caring if it looked “good” or photo realistic and I started putting my own character into my art. Art is an expression of who you are no matter what you try to portray a part of you can be witnessed through your pieces. I want to use art to help people, to help them know that there is a way to portray these difficult and lonely emotions. My art has no boundaries. Art is a reflection of the character, art is freedom, art is a way to express emotions that cannot be described with just words and it is my hope that my art reflects these things.
